Our Mission

The preservation, education, and celebration of surfing’s heritage and cultural impact.

Surfing isn't just a sport; it's an ancient culture that continues to thrive in the modern world. It's a way of life.

At SHACC, we are archiving and preserving the history of surfing while sharing the stoke of the sport. We offer captivating exhibits and interactive experiences that inspire both surfers and non-surfers alike. Your membership supports a world-class facility dedicated to preserving the past, present, and future of surfing. Together, let's keep the spirit of surfing alive!

THE STORY BEHIND THE SURFING HERITAGE & CULTURE CENTER AND ITS LAGUNA BEACH ROOTS

Over the past two decades, SHACC has assembled the world’s most extensive archive of surf history—literature, imagery, art, and, of course, equipment—cementing its reputation as the “Smithsonian of Surf Culture.” Today, that legacy is inspiring a new generation of surf historians.
